Winery Background and History: Benjamin Leroux, a leading “new generation” Burgundy winemaker, founded his own domaine after extensive experience at Comte Armand and abroad. His approach embraces biodynamic principles, traditional vineyard practices, and minimal intervention in the cellar. Though a village-level wine, his Gevrey‑Chambertin often punches above its class in purity and structure  .


Producer and Wine Maker: Benjamin Leroux oversees all vineyard, ferment, and aging decisions personally. Grapes are hand-harvested, partially whole-cluster fermented (up to ~20–30% stems), and aged in a combination of 600L foudres and 225L barrels with ~20% new oak. No filtration or fining, and light sulfur only at bottling preserves aromatics and freshness  .


Vineyards and Micro Climate: This cuvée draws from ~50-year-old vines across climats such as Les Seuvrées (on Morey border), La Justice, Les Crais, Jeunes Rois, Champerrier, and En Champs in Brochon. Soils include clay-limestone and iron-rich brochantite, with exposure providing both ripeness and freshness  .


Vinification & Aging Methods: After parcel-by-parcel sorting and fermentation in concrete/tank/open vats, wines undergo post-fermentation maceration. Aging lasts 12–22 months on lees in foudres and barrels (max 20% new) with ambient yeasts. Bottled unfined/unfiltered with sulfur under 70ppm  .


Tasting Notes: Brilliant purple hue; aromas of crushed red berries, chalky minerals, spice, tobacco, cedar, forest floor, and rose petal. The palate is tense and precise: vivid red fruit, saline acidity, fine structure, and a lingering stony finish with elegant depth  .


Food & Wine Pairing: Excellent alongside roast duck, game birds, grilled lamb, beef Bourguignon, mushroom dishes, terrines, and aged soft cheeses. The wine’s savory structure complements umami and aromatic herbs  .


Service Methods and Temperatures: Serve at 14–16 °C in a medium-large Burgundy glass. A light decant (~30 minutes) can help open the aromatics and soften youthful tannins.


Storage and Aging Potential: With proper cellar conditions (~12–14 °C, 70 % humidity), this wine is best enjoyed from 2025 to 2032, evolving with forest-floor, floral nuance, and secondary complexity while retaining refined tension  .
