Winery Background and History

Founded in 1996 by Moët & Hennessy in Mendoza’s foothills, Terrazas de los Andes builds high-altitude terraces between 980–1,250 m. The Grand range represents the pinnacle of their mountain-grown varietals—aiming for elegance, complexity, and depth at elevation  .

Producer & Wine Maker

Produced using low-yield vines in clay soils in Luján de Cuyo and Paraje Altamira, crafted with precision viticulture. The winemaking focuses on capturing mountain freshness, varietal purity, and structured aging potential  .

Vineyards and Micro Climate

Grapes grown in Perdriel (Luján de Cuyo) and Paraje Altamira (Uco Valley), combining cool mountain nights with warm days. The terroir yields Cabernet with ripe fruit, fresh acidity, and mineral structure  .

Vinification & Aging Methods

Fermented traditionally, then matured in oak barrels (American and French). Tannins are allowed to develop naturally. Specific barrel regimen for 2019 not detailed but follows Grand tradition ().

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Currant, red pepper, black fruit, with chocolate and vanilla notes from oak  .

  • Palate: Generous mouthfeel, velvety tannins, herbaceous accents (bay leaf, thyme), strawberry, raspberry, tobacco, mineral freshness, long persistent finish  .

Food & Wine Pairing

Ideal with grilled red meats (beef, lamb), game, stews, aged cheeses, mushrooms, and black truffle dishes. Also pairs with dishes featuring black pepper and mustard  .

Service Methods and Temperatures

Serve at 14–16 °C in large Bordeaux-style glasses. Decant for 1–2 hours to soften tannins and allow aromatics to open.

Storage and Aging Potential

Drink window 2021–2024–2026; shows best if cellared properly (12–14 °C, ~70 % humidity). Peak freshness and structure through 2026, though deeper cellar potential may extend to 2030+  .
