Winery Background and History
Domaine Michel & Stéphane Ogier is based in Ampuis, the heart of Côte-Rôtie in the Northern Rhône. The family originally sold grapes to top négociants until the 1980s, when estate bottling began. Stéphane Ogier took over in the late 1990s after studying in Burgundy, bringing a refined, terroir-driven approach. Today, the domaine is regarded as one of the Rhône Valley’s top producers, known for precision, elegance, and modern winemaking while respecting tradition.
Producer and Wine Maker
Stéphane Ogier is widely respected for elevating Rhône wines with Burgundian finesse. His philosophy focuses on purity, balance, and site expression rather than heavy extraction. While famous for high-end Côte-Rôtie, this cuvée reflects his ability to craft approachable wines without compromising quality, offering exceptional value and stylistic clarity.
Vineyards and Micro Climate
Fruit is sourced mainly from the Southern Rhône, particularly areas like Plan de Dieu and Visan. The region has a Mediterranean climate—hot, sunny days with cooling winds. Soils of limestone, gravel, and clay contribute to both ripeness and freshness, producing wines with generous fruit yet good structure and aromatic complexity.
The Wine
“Le Temps est Venu” is an entry-level cuvée designed to showcase Rhône character in a more accessible, fruit-driven style. It combines approachability with the pedigree of a top Côte-Rôtie producer, making it one of the best value wines in the region.
Vintage
2023 is a ripe yet balanced vintage, offering expressive fruit, soft texture, and immediate drinkability, with enough structure to age mid-term.
