Distillery Background and History
Glenmorangie Distillery was founded in 1843 in Tain, Ross‑shire, and is known for having the tallest stills in Scotland. Now owned by LVMH, it’s the most awarded Highland distillery, famed for marrying tradition with innovation across its core and prestige ranges .
Master Distiller and Production Philosophy
Under the leadership of Dr Bill Lumsden, Director of Whisky Creation, Glenmorangie focuses on precision cask selection and maturation. The 18-Year Old reflects this philosophy: initial bourbon maturation with a finishing touch in ex-Oloroso sherry casks for added richness and elegance .
Source of Ingredients (Grain, Water, Yeast)
Made from 100% Highland‑grown malted barley, using pure water from the Tarlogie Springs. Yeast strains are proprietary to the distillery, contributing to its fruity‑floral Highland terroir .
Distillation Process
Distilled twice in Glenmorangie’s iconic 26‑ft copper pot stills—a design promoting delicate spirit with high reflux—then non‑chill filtered to preserve natural oils and mouthfeel .
Maturation & Cask Information
Matured for 15 years in American white‑oak ex‑bourbon casks. Thirty percent is then transferred for 3 more years into Oloroso sherry casks before being reunited and bottled at 43% ABV .

Food Pairing Suggestions
Enjoy alongside honey-glazed nuts, dried fruit cake, milder blue cheeses, crème brûlée, or grilled salmon to balance its refined sweetness and subtle dryness.
Serving Suggestions and Ideal Glassware
Serve neat or with a splash of water in a Glencairn glass at 18–20 °C. Let it rest for 10 minutes to allow layers to unfurl and aromas to blossom .
Storage and Aging Potential
Stored upright in a cool, dark place, the unopened bottle retains its complex profile indefinitely. No further maturation occurs after bottling, but the whisky remains stable over time.
Grain Type & Mash Bill
Single malt Scotch—made from 100% malted barley grown in the Highlands .
ABV (Alcohol by Volume)
43% ABV ().
