Winery Background and History
Maison Perrier-Jouët, founded in 1811 in Épernay, Champagne, has long represented elegance and finesse. The Blason cuvées originally launched in the 1950s to honor France’s heraldry—“Blason de France.” The Blason Rosé is the modern gastronomic rosé expression intended to accompany full meals, showcasing the house’s blending expertise, reserve wine strategy, and dedication to floral and red-fruit character.
Producer and Winemaker
The wine is overseen by Perrier-Jouët’s Chef de Caves and cellar team, who choose vineyard parcels, red wines, and reserve stocks to maintain house style and freshness. The Blason Rosé is called the “gourmet wine in the House collection,” crafted to be generous and structured while retaining Perrier-Jouët’s elegance.
Vineyards and Micro Climate
The components come from selected Champagne crus, with emphasis on parcels suited to rosé blending. The house sources both still red wine (for color) and white base wines from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier from favorable sites. The cool continental climate, chalky soils, and moderate growing season help preserve acidity and aromatic complexity.
Vinification & Aging Methods
Blason Rosé is a blend of 50 % Pinot Noir (including a portion vinified as red wine), 25 % Chardonnay, 25 % Pinot Meunier. Around 12–15 % reserve wines from prior years are included to smooth variations in vintage. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel, with full malolactic fermentation. Aging is at least three years on the lees, over twice the legal minimum, before disgorgement and dosage (≈ 8–11 g/L).
Tasting Notes
Nose: Pomegranates, pears, apricots, blood orange, red berries, floral notes of honeysuckle and roses, with hints of biscuit, pastry, and light brioche.
Palate: Lush, silky and full-bodied, with vibrant red fruit, citrus zest, subtle toast, and elegance through balanced acidity and structure.
Finish: Generous and refined, with lingering red fruit, floral echoes, and finesse in texture.
Food & Wine Pairing
Blason Rosé is designed for gastronomic pairing—excellent with salmon, red snapper, sushi, duck breast with berry sauce, lamb with red fruits, or elegant desserts combining berries, white chocolate, or vanilla.
Service Methods and Temperatures
Serve chilled at 9–11 °C. Use a tulip flute or white wine balloon to allow aroma development while preserving bubbles. Avoid excessive chilling, which can suppress expression.
Storage and Aging Potential
Store horizontally in a cool, dark cellar (≈ 10–12 °C). As a mature non-vintage rosé, it can evolve for 3–7 years post-disgorgement, gaining depth while preserving freshness.
