Winery Background and History
Cantine Vietti, founded in 1919 in Castiglione Tinella, Piedmont, is a storied family-owned winery now in its fourth generation. Originally dedicated to Barolo, Vietti earned global renown for its single-vineyard Nebbiolo expressions. In recent decades, the estate expanded into aromatic Piedmontese whites, maintaining traditional vineyard practices while raising Moscato d’Asti quality. Their dedication to terroir-driven, expressive wines has elevated the once-sweet sparkling to serious acclaim.
Producer and Wine Maker
Vietti’s wine program is led by family members alongside a team of experienced enologists. They carefully select old-vine Moscato Bianco from hillside plots, focusing on balanced fruit intensity. Employing precision in harvest, minimal intervention, and rigorous quality control, the team crafts wines that merge varietal character with refined elegance.
Vineyards and Micro Climate
The estate’s Moscato d’Asti vineyards are situated on the limestone-rich slopes around Castiglione Tinella in Piedmont’s Asti zone. These sites benefit from cool alpine breezes and well‑draining soils. The vines, averaging over 40 years old, thrive in full sun exposure, developing bright aromatic profiles and crisp natural acidity.
Vinification & Aging Methods
Grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, then gently pressed and fermented in temperature‑controlled stainless steel. Fermentation stops early to retain natural sweetness, and the wine is bottled as a frizzante. No oak influence ensures delicate floral and fruity aromas are preserved.
Tasting notes
Light straw yellow with fine effervescence. The nose offers peach, apricot, orange blossom, and a touch of spice. The palate is juicy and creamy with pear, honey, citrus zest, and balanced sweetness leading to a refreshing finish sustained by bright acidity.
Food & Wine Pairing
Perfect as an aperitif or dessert pairing. Complements fruit tarts, panna cotta, fresh cheeses, smoked salmon with capers, spicy Asian cuisine, and light pastries.
Service Methods and Temperatures
Serve well‑chilled at 8–10 °C (46–50 °F) in a tulip or white‑wine glass. The low‑pressure sparkle highlights its aromatic intensity.
Storage and Aging Potential
Best enjoyed young, within 1–3 years, to capture its vibrant aromatics. Properly stored at 10–12 °C in darkness, it can hold for up to 3 years before losing its freshness and floral intensity.
