Winery Background and History

Founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot and made famous by Madame Clicquot (Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin), Veuve Clicquot revolutionized Champagne with the first vintage bottling in 1810 and the invention of riddling in 1816  . Their Vintage Rosé embodies the house’s mastery of blending Grand Cru and Premier Cru grapes to achieve elegance and complexity.

Producer and Wine Maker

The house’s Cellar Master and tasting committee oversee meticulous blending and aging. The 2015 Rosé blend comprises 50% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay, and 20% Meunier, with 13% red wine from Bouzy  . Their goal: combine richness, finesse, and the expressive character of a prime vintage.

Vineyards and Micro Climate

Grapes hail from Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards: Pinot Noir from Bouzy and other top sites, Chardonnay from Côte des Blancs. The region features chalky soils, cool maritime influence, and strong day-night temperature swings, yielding grapes with vibrant acidity, structure, and varietal character  .

Vinification & Aging Methods

Pinot Noir is partially macerated for red wine; Chardonnay and Meunier are fermented separately. Up to 10% of the blend undergoes oak maturation. The final cuvée rests on lees for a prolonged period before disgorgement with roughly 8 g/L dosage  .

Tasting notes

Deep rosy hue with an energetic mousse. Aromas offer orange blossom, yuzu, mandarin, cherry, aniseed, and Vienna bread  . The palate is vibrant, structured and fruit-rich, with red berries, light brioche, and crisp minerality.

Food & Wine Pairing

Pairs beautifully with spicy and global cuisine—Moroccan tajine, Asian dishes, tangy seafood, light game, and foie gras. Its acidity balances rich flavours and complements aromatic spices  .

Service Methods and Temperatures

Serve chilled at 10–12 °C in tulip- or white-wine glasses to showcase its aromatic complexity and mousse. No decanting needed; a gentle swirl is sufficient ().

Storage and Aging Potential

Capable of aging gracefully for over 15 years when stored at 9–12 °C, in darkness and stable humidity ().
