Winery Background and History
Veuve Clicquot, founded in 1772 and famously led by Madame Clicquot—pioneering vintage bottling in 1810 and riddling in 1816—is one of Champagne’s most iconic houses. Madame also created the first known blended rosé in 1818. Today, Veuve Clicquot continues blending high-quality Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Meunier across Grand and Premier Cru vineyards to craft consistent, expressive non-vintage rosé cuvées.
Producer and Wine Maker
The rosé is crafted by Cellar Master and tasting committee, who skillfully blend base wines with up to ~45% reserve wines and ~12% red still wine from Bouzy, creating a rosé with freshness, structure, and complexity.
Vineyards and Micro Climate
The grapes derive from 50–60 Crus, combining Pinot Noir (50%), Chardonnay (30%), and Pinot Meunier (20%). Vineyards across Champagne benefit from chalk soils, maritime climate, and diurnal temperature variation, ensuring balance, acidity, and aromatic precision.
Vinification & Aging Methods
Base wines undergo temperature-controlled fermentation. Rosé includes ~12% red wine maceration from Bouzy, up to 45% reserve wines, and ~11% oak-aged wine. The cuvée rests on lees, followed by disgorgement with ~9 g/L dosage.
Tasting notes
Pale salmon with fine mousse. Aromas of red fruits, biscuit, pastry cream, grapefruit peel, candied ginger, and toast. The palate is lacy and minerally, layered with wild strawberry, mandarin zest, brioche, and vanilla, finishing long and elegant.
Food & Wine Pairing
Pairs beautifully with shellfish, sushi, grilled fish, prosciutto, cured meats, smoked salmon, and light game. Its balanced acidity and red fruit notes complement savory and umami-rich dishes. ()
Service Methods and Temperatures
Serve chilled at 8–10 °C in a tulip- or white‑wine glass to capture its aromatic nuance and mousse. No need for decanting; gentle swirl helps release aromatics. ()
Storage and Aging Potential
Best consumed within 3 years of release. When stored at 9–12 °C with stable humidity and darkness, the wine may maintain freshness and finesse up to that period. ()
