Winery Background and History

Terrazas de los Andes was founded in 1996 by Moët & Hennessy in Mendoza’s high-altitude vineyards (980–1,250 m), embracing precision viticulture and sustainable practices. Their “Grand” series showcases the most expressive and evolved mountain-grown varietals—including Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay—blended from premium high-altitude parcels  .

Producer & Wine Maker

The estate winemaking team sources grapes from up to 14 regeneratively cultivated plots across Las Compuertas, Paraje Altamira, and Los Chacayes. These vineyards underwent gravity-fed fermentation and maturation in a thoughtful mix of new French oak, preserving purity and structure  .

Vineyards & Micro Climate

High-altitude vineyards spanning Las Compuertas, Paraje Altamira, and Los Chacayes deliver cool nights and warm days. This combination fosters fresh acidity, dark fruit concentration, and aromatic complexity such as violet, thyme, rosemary, and blackberry  .

Vinification & Aging Methods

Plotted fermentation and gravity-fed transfers ensure gentle extraction. Aged for approximately 12–16 months in a blend of first-fill French oak barrels and oak tanks, to balance fruit vibrancy and textural refinement  .

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Layered aromatics—plum and cherry from Las Compuertas, violet and thyme from Altamira, and blackberry, blueberry, and rosemary from Los Chacayes  .

  • Palate: Silky texture, velvety tannins, ample volume, good acidity, with subtle toasted oak notes and elegant mineral lift  .

Food & Wine Pairing

Ideal alongside grilled and slow-cooked beef with wine reductions, stewed lamb, mature or smoked cheeses, mushrooms, black pepper, and mustard-infused dishes  .

Service Methods & Temperatures

Serve at 16–18 °C in large Bordeaux-style glasses. Decant for 1–2 hours to soften tannins and fully develop aromatics.

Storage & Aging Potential

Expected drinking window spans 2023–2031 (approx. 10 years aging potential) when cellared at 12–14 °C with moderate humidity ().

Grape Varietals & Percentage Used

100% Malbec sourced from high-altitude parcels across the estate  .
