Distillery Background and History

The Singleton of Dufftown originates from Dufftown in Speyside, Scotland—part of Diageo’s renowned trio of “Singleton” distilleries alongside Glen Ord and Glendullan. With a legacy dating back to the late 19th century, Singleton of Dufftown focuses on crafting balanced, fruit-forward whiskies that reflect the Speyside heritage of smoothness and depth  .

Master Distiller and Production Philosophy

Headed by Maureen Robinson and her team—under Diageo’s Master of Malts philosophy—the goal is to achieve “Trinity Cask Harmony.” This involves carefully harmonizing whiskies from European oak, refill ex-bourbon, and finishing in American oak. The result is a seamless balance of vibrancy, oak depth, and aged elegance  .

Source of Ingredients (Grain, Water, Yeast)

Crafted using 100% malted barley sourced for quality from Speyside. Water is drawn from local springs in Dufftown, and fermentation relies on traditional yeast strains in wooden washbacks, complementing the region’s temperate climate. 

Distillation Process

Double distilled in classic copper pot stills, Singleton of Dufftown employs time-honored methods to create a gentle, fruit-rich spirit. The precise cut of hearts and slow distillation preserve aromatic character and consistency.

Maturation & Cask Information

Aged for 25 years in a thoughtfully selected combination of European oak, ex-bourbon, and finally American oak “marrying” casks. This layered maturation builds complexity—infusing dried fruit, oak spice, honeyed sweetness, and vanilla depth  .

Tasting Notes

• Nose: Delicate tropical fruit aromas, gentle honey, and polished oak.

• Palate: Rich layers of pear, pineapple, passionfruit, apricot, baking spices, and caramel.
