Winery Background and History

Bottega Pio Cesare, founded in 1881 in Alba, Piedmont, has long been a benchmark for traditional winemaking excellence. Known globally for its iconic Barolo and Barbaresco, the estate also crafts lighter, aromatic wines like Moscato d’Asti. This offering reflects the winery’s commitment to authenticity, harvesting from old, selected vineyards and preserving fresh, varietal character with minimal intervention

Producer and Wine Maker

This Moscato d’Asti is guided by the experienced Pio Cesare winemaking team, who emphasize minimal handling and rapid bottling to preserve the wine’s natural aromatic lift. The vineyard selection, gentle pressing, and controlled fermentation reflect the estate’s philosophy of honoring grape purity and regional expression in every bottle

Vineyards and Micro Climate

Grapes are sourced from old Moscato di Canelli vines planted in select vineyards across Santa Vittoria d’Alba, Neviglie, and Trezzo Tinella. These sites enjoy gentle slopes, well-drained soils, and cool afternoon breezes from the Asti area—conditions that foster aromatic intensity, freshness, and a delicate structure

Vinification & Aging Methods

The wine undergoes partial cold fermentation under pressure in stainless steel tanks, arresting fermentation early to preserve residual sugar and natural effervescence. Extensive lees contact enhances complexity and texture. Bottled shortly after fermentation, this approach ensures a vibrant, frizzante-style expression

Tasting Notes

The wine presents a fragrant bouquet of honeyed ripe stone fruit, citrus, apricot, and floral notes. On the palate, it is semi-sweet, with a delicate, softly charged frizzante texture. Flavors of peach, apricot, and honey linger through a refreshing, aromatic finish

Food & Wine Pairing

Ideal with fruit-based desserts, tarts, almond-based cakes, panna cotta, and fresh berries. Its joyful sweetness and gentle fizz also complement blue cheese, fresh fruit plates, or light Asian desserts

Service Methods and Temperatures

Serve chilled at 8–10 °C (46–50 °F) in a flute or standard white wine glass to preserve aromatic lift and effervescence. No decanting is needed.

Storage and Aging Potential

Best enjoyed young, within 1–2 years of release. This Moscato is all about freshness and aromatic vibrancy—aging beyond this window may cause loss of its lively character
