Winery Background and History
Founded in 1743 by Claude Moët in Épernay, Moët & Chandon revolutionized Champagne and remains one of the world’s largest producers, now part of LVMH. Rosé Impérial, introduced in 1996, represents the House’s signature romantic rosé style—vibrant, fruity, and elegantly structured. It draws on centuries of blending expertise, combining traditional savoir-faire with modern techniques in wine-making and marketing to achieve consistent excellence in non-vintage rosé Champagne.
Producer and Wine Maker
Crafted under Chef de Cave Benoît Gouez and a dedicated tasting panel, this cuvée is a blend of base wines and up to ~30 % reserve wines. A portion of Pinot Noir and Meunier receives oak maturation for added texture and depth. The team’s goal is to maintain bold fruit character with a refined finish, crafting a balanced, seductive rosé expression.
Vineyards and Micro Climate
Fruit is sourced from selected Grand and Premier Cru sites across Champagne, including Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne, and Côte des Blancs. The region’s chalk-rich soils and cool maritime climate—with notable diurnal temperature shifts—produce grapes with bright acidity and clear varietal expression, forming the foundation of the wine’s vibrant fruit and freshness.
Vinification & Aging Methods
Each parcel undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel; ~10 % of Pinot Noir and Meunier are fermented or aged in oak to impart complexity. The blend includes ~20–30 % reserve wines and ~10 % red still wine from Pinot Noir and Meunier to achieve its salmon-pink hue. After secondary fermentation, the wine is aged on fine lees before dosage (~9 g/L). ()
Tasting notes
Bright salmon-pink color with fine mousse. Aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry, cherry, rose petal, and pepper lead to a palate that is juicy, supple, and elegantly framed. Fruit flavors are crisp and persistent, complemented by menthol-tinged minerals and a lingering, refined finish.
Food & Wine Pairing
Ideal as an aperitif or with dishes like sushi, shellfish, grilled fish, poultry, charcuterie, and lightly spiced fare. The wine’s vivid red fruit and refined minerality also make it a great match for berry-based desserts and light pâtisserie. ()
Service Methods and Temperatures
Serve chilled at 8–10 °C in a tulip-shaped or white-wine glass to enhance aromatic intensity and preserve mousse. Gentle swirling will further release layered red-fruit aromatics. No decanting is required. ()
Storage and Aging Potential
Best enjoyed within 3–5 years of release when stored at 9–12 °C with stable humidity and darkness to preserve freshness, fruit clarity, and structure. Aging beyond this range may reduce vibrancy. ()
