Winery Background and History
Founded in 1743 in Épernay by Claude Moët, Moët & Chandon is a global Champagne icon and flagship of LVMH. In 2010, the House launched Ice Impérial, the world’s first Champagne specifically created to be served over ice, representing a playful break from tradition while retaining the brand’s signature fruit-forward elegance .
Producer and Wine Maker
Cellar Master Benoît Gouez and his team assemble Ice Impérial using specially selected reserve wines, integrating vibrant Pinot Noir, full-bodied Meunier, and crisp Chardonnay to support sweetness and freshness at summer temperatures .
Vineyards and Micro Climate
Fruit is sourced from Grand and Premier Cru vineyards across Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne, and Côte des Blancs. With Pinot Noir contributing 40–50%, Meunier 30–40%, and Chardonnay 10–20%, the blend emphasizes fruit intensity, richness, and refreshing acidity .
Vinification & Aging Methods
Primary fermentation takes place in stainless steel, followed by blending with 20–30% reserve wines. Brut dosage is adjusted to suit a demi-sec style (≈45 g/L residual sugar), tailored for enjoyment over ice .
Tasting Notes
The wine shows a deep gold hue with amber highlights. Aromas burst with tropical fruit (mango, guava), stone fruit (nectarine), and raspberry. The palate offers lush fruit salad character, caramel, quince jelly, grapefruit, and ginger freshness .
Food & Wine Pairing
Ideal served over ice with mint, citrus, cucumber, or berries for summer cocktails. Pairs well with fresh fruit salad, foie gras, lobster curry, mild cheeses, or desserts ().
Service Methods and Temperatures
Chill to ~7 °C. Serve in a large goblet or wine glass filled with ice cubes; optional garnishes include mint leaves, lime zest, or red berries ().
Storage and Aging Potential
Best consumed fresh within 2–3 years. Intended for immediate enjoyment rather than long-term aging—ice moderates sweetness and preserves freshness.
