Winery Background and History
Founded in 1743 by Claude Moët in Épernay, Moët & Chandon is a flagship house of LVMH and one of the world’s most celebrated Champagne brands. The Grand Vintage Rosé is a prestige expression made only in exceptional years; the 2015 Rosé, the 44th in the series, embodies the house’s strength in blending power and elegance with a light, modern touch .
Producer and Wine Maker
Crafted under Cellar Master Benoît Gouez, who guided the wine’s progress through a harvest marked by heat and brightness. Gouez’s intent was to capture intense ripeness with a fresh, crystalline structure, restrained by the low dosage of 5 g/L .
Vineyards and Micro Climate
Fruit comes from Grand and Premier Cru sites in Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne, and Côte des Blancs. The hot, dry summer of 2015—balanced by cool nights and chalk soils—enabled well-ripened fruit with vibrant acidity and minerality .
Vinification & Aging Methods
The blend is 52% Pinot Noir (including 14% still red wine), 27% Chardonnay, and 21% Meunier. Primary fermentation occurs in stainless steel and oak, followed by six years on lees and a minimum six months post-disgorgement in bottle, finished with 5 g/L dosage .
Tasting Notes
Coral-pink with a metallic sheen and delicate mousse. Aromas of dark berries, fig, wild strawberry, pink peppercorn, allspice, and garrigue. The palate is concentrated and structured, with sloe, cranberry bitterness, mint, aniseed, smoked brioche, toastiness, oyster shell, and chalky salinity. Vibrant acidity carries the finish .
Food & Wine Pairing
Ideal with meaty and oily fish (salmon, tuna), seafood, salads, duck, lamb, and white meat with light sauces. The wine’s structure and savory depth also allow harmony with sushi and grilled dishes .
Service Methods and Temperatures
Serve chilled at 6–8 °C in a tulip- or white‑wine glass to highlight its aromatic strength and mousse. No decanting needed; gentle swirling helps unfurl its complexity ().
Storage and Aging Potential
Cellared at 9–12 °C (stable humidity, darkness), the 2015 Rosé can mature gracefully until at least 2030, with tertiary notes of dried fruit, honey, toast, and spice gradually appearing ().
