Winery Background and History Moët & Chandon was established in 1743 by Claude Moët in Épernay, France, quickly becoming one of the most renowned Champagne houses in the world. Over centuries it has built a legacy of elegance and celebration, blending Champagne for royalty, state occasions and global milestones. Moët’s rosé expression, Rosé Impérial, embodies the house’s philosophy of bright fruitiness, seductive palate and refined balance. As a flagship rosé Champagne, it represents the continuation of Moët’s historic craftsmanship combined with modern vibrancy and global appeal.
Producer and Winemaker Rosé Impérial is created by the cellar team at Maison Moët & Chandon in Champagne, led by Chef de Cave Benoît Gouez. The team’s blending expertise selects base wines from across Moët’s vineyards and reserve stocks to ensure a consistent signature style marked by intensity, balance and harmonious complexity. Rosé Impérial reflects Moët’s long-standing approach to assemblage—balancing fruit expression, freshness and subtle richness through careful blending of multiple vintages and grape sources.
Vineyards and Micro Climate Grapes for Rosé Impérial are sourced from a broad mosaic of vineyards throughout the Champagne region, mainly from Grand and Premier Cru sites with chalky soils that promote balanced acidity and expressive aromatics. The cool continental climate of Champagne—characterized by long growing seasons with significant diurnal temperature variation—supports slow ripening of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. This combination of terroirs contributes to the wine’s vibrant red fruit character, freshness and structural balance.
Vinification & Aging Methods Rosé Impérial is crafted by traditional méthode champenoise, beginning with primary fermentation of base wines from Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. A portion of red wine from Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier is added to achieve its distinctive salmon pink hue. After tirage for secondary fermentation in bottle, the wine matures on lees for at least 15–24 months, fostering complexity and fine effervescence. Dosage is calibrated to achieve balanced dryness typical of Brut style.
Tasting Notes Rosé Impérial displays a luminous pink color with amber highlights. The nose is lively and intense with a bouquet of wild strawberries, raspberry, cherry and floral rose nuances with a hint of pepper. On the palate it is juicy and fruit-driven, offering vibrant red fruit flavors with a fleshy feel, fine mousse and refreshing acidity. The finish is persistent, elegant and balanced with subtle menthol freshness.
Food and Wine Pairing This rosé Champagne pairs beautifully with a range of foods from seafood to richer dishes. Perfect with shellfish (oysters, crab, langoustine), sushi and lightly spiced Asian cuisine. It also complements roasted duck breast, grilled salmon, foie gras and soft cheeses like Brie. For dessert, pair with strawberry tarts, berry pavlova or light creamy desserts to echo its vibrant fruit profile.
Service Methods and Temperatures Serve chilled at approximately 6–8 °C in tall flutes or tulip-shaped glasses to concentrate the elegant bead of fine bubbles and showcase aromatic intensity. Avoid over-chilling to allow the full spectrum of fruit and floral notes to emerge. Pour gently to preserve mousse and serve immediately after chilling for optimal freshness.
Storage and Aging Potential Store bottles horizontally in a cool, dark place with stable temperature (10–12 °C) and moderate humidity. Non-vintage Champagnes are designed for near-term consumption; while properly stored bottles can be kept for several years, extended aging typically yields limited benefit compared with vintage Champagnes. Once opened, enjoy within a few hours to retain bubbles and freshness.
Grape Varietals & Percentage Used Approximately 40–50 % Pinot Noir, 30–40 % Pinot Meunier, 10–20 % Chardonnay with roughly 20–30 % reserve wines to enhance intensity and consistency.
ABV (Alcohol by Volume) ~12.5 %
