Winery Background and History
Marqués de Riscal, established in 1858 in Rioja, is one of Spain’s oldest and most prestigious wineries. They began producing rosé in the 1960s to mark their centenary, using young vines under 15 years old. This longstanding tradition continues with the Rosado, embodying a classic Rioja rosé style that balances delicacy, freshness, and refinement.
Producer and Wine Maker
Crafted in-house by Marqués de Riscal’s experienced estate team, the Rosado is made via gentle direct pressing of carefully selected young Tempranillo and Viura vines. Fermented in stainless steel at controlled temperatures, the method emphasizes purity and freshness.
Vineyards and Micro Climate
Grapes come from young vineyard plots in Rioja (La Rioja Alavesa) under DOCa Rioja, offering a continental climate—hot summers, cool nights—and limestone-rich soils. These conditions foster aromatic complexity and vibrant acidity in the youthful fruit.
Vinification & Aging Methods
The rosé is produced by gentle pressing (direct press) to capture delicate aromas. The must is fermented and matured entirely in stainless steel at controlled temperatures, preserving fruit character and freshness.
Tasting Notes
Bright, pale pink in color. Aromas of intense raspberry and strawberry with floral hints. On the palate it is fresh, balanced, with a glyceric texture and long, crisp, racy finish marked by pure red-fruit flavors.
Food & Wine Pairing
Pairs well with fish, shellfish, pasta, rice dishes, sushi, oily fish, and white fish.
Service Methods and Temperatures
Serve chilled between 8–10 °C to highlight its freshness and aromatics.
