Winery Background and History

Mannenberg is a modern South African wine brand produced by MAN Vintners, known for creating fruit‐driven varietal wines that reflect regional styles. The Shiraz is crafted from the hot, dry terroir of South Africa’s Coastal Region, primarily drawing from Agter-Paarl vineyards. This approachable label focuses on clarity and value, capturing the essence of New World Shiraz. 

Producer and Winemaker

The wine is produced by MAN Vintners, with grapes sourced from un-irrigated trellised and bush-vine vineyards in the Agter-Paarl area. The production emphasizes ripe, expressive fruit complemented by minimal intervention techniques to enhance regional character. 

Vineyards and Micro Climate

Grapes are grown on hot, dry sites in Agter-Paarl within the Coastal Region of the Western Cape. These vineyards benefit from warm days and cool nights, allowing Shiraz to develop concentration while retaining freshness. 

Vinification & Aging Methods

The wine undergoes a short, 5-day fermentation in stainless steel after a 2-day cold maceration. After malolactic fermentation, it’s matured for 12 months in 225 L American oak barrels, approximately 8% of which are new, then fined and filtered before bottling. 

Tasting Notes

Medium to full-bodied, with a deep claret color. Aromas include vanilla, anise, and earthy notes. The palate features mouth-filling raspberry, plum, and smooth, integrated tannins thanks to American oak influence. 

Food & Wine Pairing

Pairs well with rich meat dishes such as slow-cooked lamb, oxtail, or cassoulet—complements the wine’s ripe fruit and oak structure beautifully. 

Service Methods and Temperatures

Serve at cool room temperature (around 16–18 °C) to allow the wine’s aromas and flavors to unfold nicely. 

Storage and Aging Potential

Designed for immediate enjoyment; moderate cellaring up to 5 years may help further integrate its flavors, but it’s not built for long-term storage.
