Jean Marie Fourrier Vigne Comte de Chapelle Pommard Les Petits Noizons VV 2022
Country: France
Region: Burgundy
Volume: 750ml
Winery Background and History:
Jean‑Marie Fourrier is a fourth-generation vigneron based in Gevrey‑Chambertin who took over his family domaine in 1994. Focusing on low-yielding, old vines and minimal intervention, he crafts terroir-driven Pinot Noirs across prestigious Côte de Beaune appellations. Les Petits Noizons, a premiere fruit from younger plots of the Comte de Chapelle vineyard, demonstrates his evolving mastery in balancing intensity with finesse.
Producer and Wine Maker:
Fourrier oversees every aspect from pruning to vinification. The Les Petits Noizons grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed, and fermented with native yeasts in open-top vats. After gentle extraction through punch-downs, the wine is aged for 12–16 months in primarily neutral oak barrels, bottled without fining or filtration to preserve purity and structure.
Vineyards and Micro Climate:
The vines are on Les Petits Noizons plot in Pommard, situated on clay-limestone slopes with moderate elevation and southeast exposure. Planted several decades ago, they benefit from continental climate with warm summers and cool nights. The 2022 vintage was marked by balanced ripening and harmonious acidity, contributing to wine’s clarity and tension.
Vinification & Aging Methods:
Grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation in open vats with daily punch-downs to extract balanced tannins. The wine matures 12–16 months in neutral oak to enhance texture and complexity. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, this method preserves varietal character and terroir expression.
Tasting Notes:
Deep ruby hue. The nose unfolds aromas of ripe red and dark berries, iron, earthy forest floor, pepper, and a hint of licorice. On the palate the wine is medium to full-bodied with polished tannins, bright acidity, pure fruit intensity, gentle spice, and a lingering savory, mineral finish.
Food & Wine Pairing:
Pairs beautifully with roast duck, lamb racks, mushroom risotto, aged Comté, and charcuterie. Its fine structure, elegant profile, and balanced acidity complement both meaty and earthy dishes without overpowering.
Service Methods and Temperatures:
Serve at 16–18 °C in a Burgundy-style glass to showcase aromatics and texture. Decant for 30–45 minutes to allow openness and soften tannic structure, enhancing the mid-palate richness.
Storage and Aging Potential:
Under optimal cellar conditions (12 °C, 70 % humidity), this wine will evolve gracefully through 2035–2040. With time it will develop tertiary notes of leather, tobacco, earth, exotic spice, and forest floor, while maintaining fruit clarity and structure.
