Winery Background and History:

J.B. Becker is a family-run estate in Walluf, Rheingau, with roots dating to the 1870s. Owned by Hans-Joseph “HaJo” Becker, a pioneer of organic and minimal-intervention viticulture, the winery is known for producing intense, age-worthy Rieslings. Becker proudly continues the region’s tradition of producing iconic Predikat wines, emphasizing purity, minerality, and longevity

Producer and Wine Maker:

Winemaker Hans-Joseph Becker cultivates organic vineyards and employs native yeasts for fermentation in pressurized tanks, followed by at least two years maturation in large traditional Rheingau barrels. Bottled under screw cap to preserve freshness, his approach combines modern precision with deep respect for terroir

Vineyards and Micro Climate:

The wine comes from the Wallufer Berg Bildstock vineyard, planted on steep slate slopes within the Rheingau. These south-facing vines benefit from intense sun, cool breezes, and excellent drainage—ideal for concentrating Riesling character with balance

Vinification & Aging Methods:

Harvested ripe and hand-picked, the grapes undergo gentle pressing and fermentation in pressurized tanks. The fermentation is warm and finishes off-dry. Barrel aging lasts approximately 24 months in large old oak before bottling under screw cap, maintaining clarity and texture ()

Tasting Notes:

Pale straw color with piercing clarity. The aroma blends ripe peach, apricot, guava, tropical notes, and citrus sprinkled with saline minerality and subtle herbs. The palate is vibrant, mouthwatering, leaning slightly off-dry, with tropical fruit, sea-salt freshness, and a long, complex, mineral-laced finish

Food & Wine Pairing:

Great with mildly spicy dishes, seafood, shellfish, pork, poultry, grilled vegetables, stinky cheeses, and smoked fish. Its saline freshness and vibrant acidity balance rich, fatty, or spicy flavors ()

Service Methods and Temperatures:

Chill to 8–10 °C and serve in a medium-sized white wine glass. No decanting needed; cooler temps help highlight its freshness and complexity

Storage and Aging Potential:

This Kabinett can be cellared for 10–15 years under 10–12 °C with moderate humidity. Expect further development of honeyed, mineral, and petrol-like tertiary aromas while retaining bright acidity
