Frescobaldi Pomino Bianco DOC 2024
Frescobaldi Pomino Bianco DOC 2024
Country: Italy
Region: Tuscany
Volume: 750ml
Winery Background and History
Pomino Bianco 2024 is produced by Frescobaldi at Castello di Pomino—an estate celebrated for its high-altitude terroir north of Florence. Pomino was the pioneer in Tuscany for white winemaking in barriques, and this modern, refined blend continues that legacy with elegance and clarity.
Producer and Winemaker
Crafted by Frescobaldi’s expert team, this wine benefits from meticulous vineyard care, careful oxygen management from grape to cellar, and a refined fermentation process combining steel and wood to express both freshness and complexity.
Vineyards and Micro Climate
Grapes are harvested from high-altitude vineyards reaching up to 700 m within the Pomino area. This elevated, cool microclimate, combined with sandy and calcareous soils, ensures precise ripening and vibrant aromatics.
Vinification & Aging Methods
The grapes undergo gentle pressing and fermentation—most in stainless steel, with a small portion (around 15%) fermented in French oak barriques. Aging lasts approximately four months in steel, followed by bottle maturation before release.
Tasting Notes
Pomino Bianco 2024 shines with an intense straw-yellow hue. Aromatics include hawthorn, white wisteria, magnolia, alongside fruit notes of apple, pear, and fresh citrus. On the palate, creamy texture from oak integration meets lively freshness, saline minerality, and balanced flavor.
Tannico also notes floral hints of jasmine and frangipani, with apricot, quince, and tropical fruit flavors, followed by cardamom, plus a savory, harmonious finish with a touch of ripe raspberry.
Food & Wine Pairing
Excellent as an aperitif or paired with fish dishes, vegetable appetizers, herb risottos, and white meats. Its fresh profile and aromatics make it versatile and food-friendly.
Service Methods and Temperature
Serve chilled at 8–10 °C in a medium-stem white wine glass to highlight its freshness and complexity.
