Winery Background and History

Domaine Florent Garaudet is a family-owned estate located in Monthélie, Burgundy, France. Established in 2008 by Florent Garaudet, a fifth-generation winemaker, the domaine spans approximately 11.5 hectares, encompassing appellations such as Bourgogne, Meursault, Monthélie, Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet, and Volnay. Florent combines traditional practices with modern techniques, emphasizing sustainable viticulture to produce wines that authentically express the terroir of each vineyard.

Florent Garaudet leads the domaine, bringing a wealth of experience from his studies in viticulture in Beaune and practical experience in regions like Languedoc and Pomerol. Vineyards and Microclimate

The “Les Champs Fulliots” Premier Cru vineyard is situated in Monthélie, adjacent to renowned appellations like Volnay and Meursault. Florent’s 0.3-hectare parcel was planted in 1972 on shallow clay-limestone soils over limestone bedrock, at an elevation of 290 meters with southeast exposure. This microclimate fosters the development of Pinot Noir grapes with balanced ripeness and acidity, contributing to the wine’s elegance and complexity.

Vinification & Aging Methods

Grapes are harvested by hand and completely destemmed before a 20-day maceration, during which punching of the cap is performed once or twice daily. After a gentle press, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks and is later racked to French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and maturation. The wine is aged for 18 months in oak barrels, with 50% new oak, to enhance complexity without overshadowing the varietal character.
