Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2009
Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2009
Country: France
Region: Champagne
Volume: 750ml
Winery Background and History:
Dom Pérignon is Moët & Chandon’s prestige vintage Champagne introduced in 1921 and exclusively produced in outstanding years. The Rosé variant, launched in 1959, is crafted only in truly exceptional vintages. The 2009 Rosé showcases a richer, more expressive style while maintaining elegance and remarkable aging potential.
Producer and Wine Maker:
Under Chef de Cave Vincent Chaperon, the 2009 Rosé is expertly blended from Grand Cru Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. About 10 % of Pinot Noir is vinified as still red wine to deepen color and structure. The wine undergoes fermentation in both stainless steel and oak, followed by over a decade of aging on lees in Dom Pérignon’s cellars before being disgorged and released.
Vineyards and Micro Climate:
Grapes are sourced from Grand Cru sites in Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs. The 2009 vintage benefited from a warm, sunny summer followed by a long, cool, and dry September, with chalky soils that preserved vibrant acidity and phenolic ripeness—ideal for powerful, ageworthy Rosé.
Vinification & Aging Methods:
The cuvée was partially fermented in oak, with approximately 10 % still Pinot Noir included. It aged over a decade on lees before disgorgement with low dosage to preserve tension, texture, and minerality. Aging in magnum format further enhances depth and complexity.
Tasting Notes:
Pours a vibrant salmon-pink with fine mousse. Aromas of peaches, crushed strawberries, blood orange, spice, and pomegranate unveil on the nose. The palate is generous and creamy, offering red fruit, cedar, fruit tea, mocha, and mineral intensity, finishing long, structured, and precise.
Food & Wine Pairing:
Pairs exquisitely with lobster, scallops, sashimi, langoustine, creamy poultry dishes, truffle risotto, mushroom-based cuisine, and aged cheeses—highlighting its rich fruit, spice, and umami character.
Service Methods and Temperatures:
Serve at 10 °C in large tulip or fine-stemmed white wine glasses to highlight aromatics and mousse. No decanting is needed. A gentle swirl will help express tertiary complexity.
Storage and Aging Potential:
When cellared at 10 °C–12 °C with 70 %–80 % humidity and no light, the 2009 Rosé will continue to evolve through at least 2035. Expect tertiary notes of honey, toasted nuts, warm spices, smoke, and saline accents while retaining core freshness and structure.
