Winery Background and History: Domaine Coquard‑Loison Fleurot is a boutique family estate founded in the late 20th century in Vosne‑Romanée. Operating with terroir respect and modern precision, the domaine sources from both Vosne‑Romanée and neighboring Premier Crus. Critics liken its quality to top names like Mugneret‑Gibourg, thanks to consistent quality and great value.

Producer and Wine Maker: Under Thomas Colladot’s stewardship, the domaine practices low-intervention winemaking—late malolactic, balanced whole-bunch usage, ambient yeast fermentations, and gentle extraction. The focus is on clarity, balance, and freshness.

Vineyards and Micro Climate: The village cuvée combines fruit from La Violette (40 % whole bunch) and parts of Quartier de Nuits (0 % stems), grown on classic clay‑limestone soils just below premier cru terrain. East exposure and older vines (up to 80–90 years) give poised structure and minerality.

Vinification & Aging Methods: Grapes are hand‑picked, partially whole-bunch fermented, followed by aging for about 12–18 months in older oak barrels. No fining or filtration is applied before bottling. Malolactic fermentation ran late in the vintage.

Tasting Notes: Dark cherry and plum aromas meld with hints of Asian tea and sandalwood. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied and concentrated—rich fruit framed by saline minerality, fine tannin, neat acidity, and a long youthful finish.

Food & Wine Pairing: Ideal with roast duck, goose, game birds, venison, mushroom ragout, or herb-crusted lamb. Also pairs well with aged soft cheeses or dishes with savory complexity.

Service Methods and Temperatures: Serve in a medium-large Burgundy glass at 14–16 °C. A gentle decant (~30 minutes) enhances aromatic lift and softens tannins.

Storage and Aging Potential: Best drinking window is 2024 to 2033. Stored at ~12–14 °C and ~70% humidity, it will evolve into savory complexity, developing earthy and tertiary notes while retaining energy.

Grape Varietals & percentage used: 100 % Pinot Noir, consistent with Vosne‑Romanée AOC rules.

ABV (Alcohol by Volume): Approximately 13.9%.

  • Wine Spectator / Wine Enthusiast: Wine‑Searcher reports an overall average critic score of 91/100 for this vintage
