Winery Background and History

Château d’Esclans, located in the Côtes de Provence AOC on the Saint‑Tropez peninsula, was acquired by Sacha Lichine in 2005 and credited with reviving Provençal rosé as a premium category. Now majority‑owned by LVMH, the estate emphasizes terroir‑driven rosé excellence.

Producer and Wine Maker

Crafted under the vision of Sacha Lichine and estate winemakers, Rock Angel blends estate-grown Grenache and Vermentino (Rolle) with sourced fruit. The team uses meticulous pressing, sorts via optical sorting, and practices barrel fermentation and partial oak aging for added complexity.

Vineyards and Micro Climate

Grapes come from estate vineyards in the Esclans Valley and top terroirs across the Côtes de Provence. Morning-to-noon harvest preserves freshness, while Mediterranean breezes and schist-clay soils enhance minerality and structure.

Vinification & Aging Methods

Free‑run juice is gently pressed, cold-fermented in temperature‑controlled oak barrels (Demi‑Muids) and stainless tanks, with frequent bâtonnage over six months before bottling. Partial oak use adds texture.

Tasting Notes

Delicate red berries and floral aromas with underlying spice and mineral notes. On the palate, ripe red fruit and citrus blend with creamy texture from oak and flinty minerality. The finish is long, structured, and elegant.

Food & Wine Pairing

Ideal alongside oysters, grilled fish, seafood pasta, creamy mushroom dishes, charcuterie, and smoked salmon. Its depth and minerality also pair well with richer cuisine. ()

Service Methods and Temperatures

Serve well‑chilled at 8–10 °C in a tulip or medium‑bodied rosé glass. No decanting required—simple rest after opening is sufficient.

Storage and Aging Potential

Drink now through 2026. With care (cool, dark conditions), structure and depth may evolve until 2028–2029. Recommended consumption window remains relatively short due to fruit-forward style.

Grape Varietals & percentage used

Predominantly Grenache with Rolle/Vermentino; small portions of Syrah/Cinsault possible (exact percentages proprietary).

ABV (Alcohol by Volume)

13.5 % ABV (vintage standard)
