Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova 2015
Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova 2015
Country: Italy
Region: Tuscany
Volume: 750ml
Winery Background and History:
Casanova di Neri was founded in 1971 by Giovanni Neri in Montalcino. The estate covers 50 ha of vineyards across multiple plots. Tenuta Nuova, planted in 1993, is the flagship single-vineyard research project from which the estate produces its most powerful and modern-styled Brunello. Known for rigorous vineyard work and scientific clonal selection, the winery balances bold fruit expression with refinement, becoming a benchmark example of innovative Brunello production
Producer and Wine Maker:
Under Giacomo Neri’s guidance, the 2015 Tenuta Nuova underwent fermentation and maceration in stainless steel vats for about 24 days, followed by approximately 30 months of aging in 500 L barrels and an additional 12 months in bottle. This method enhances the wine’s structure, depth, and aromatic precision
Vineyards and Micro Climate:
Grapes are sourced from the Le Cetine vineyard at 275–320 m elevation on shallow clay-limestone soils with crushed stones. The site has southeastern exposure and benefits from morning sun and evening cooling, which preserves acidity and produces vivid fruit in the 2015 vintage
Vinification & Aging Methods:
Following 24-day maceration in conical steel vats, the wine aged 30 months in 500 L oak barrels, then 12 months in bottle. This extended aging softens tannins, integrates complex flavors, and ensures a poised finish
Tasting Notes:
Bright red fruit aromas of cherry, plum, balsamic and herb tones combine with notes of white truffle, peppercorn and asphalt. On the palate it’s full-bodied, layered, elegant and mineral-driven with polished, salty tannins and a deeply resonant finish
Food & Wine Pairing:
Ideal with grilled or roasted red meats (beef, lamb, venison), wild mushroom risotto, game stew, aged Tuscan cheeses, and rich Pasta dishes. Its structure, acidity and savory profile harmonize beautifully with hearty flavors
Service Methods and Temperatures:
Serve at 16 °C in large Bordeaux-style glasses. Decant for 60 minutes to open aromatics and soften the wine structure
Storage and Aging Potential:
Cellar at 12–14 °C with moderate humidity. Expect graceful evolution through at least 2045, developing tertiary layers of leather, forest floor, dried herbs and spice while maintaining freshness ()
