Winery Background and History
Casanova di Neri was established in 1971 by Giovanni Neri in Montalcino. Today, his family carries forward a legacy of producing refined and expressive Brunello di Montalcino. The estate blends traditional Tuscan winemaking with modern techniques, crafting a signature style known for elegance and structure. The “White Label” or core Brunello di Montalcino embodies this philosophy.
Producer and Winemaker
Currently managed by Giovanni’s sons, Giacomo and his family, Casanova di Neri employs meticulous vineyard management, optical sorting, and spontaneous fermentation—aiming for clear expression, freshness, and fruit integrity.
Vineyards and Micro Climate
The vineyards are located around Montalcino, benefiting from warm, dry Mediterranean conditions with cooling slopes and altitude variation. Summers are hot and dry, ideal for full Sangiovese ripeness, while spring rains and hillside exposures promote balance and complexity.
Vinification & Aging Methods
Harvest happens manually, followed by destemming, optical sorting, and spontaneous fermentation in temperature-controlled steel vats—lasting approximately 23 days. The wine is aged for 43 months in large oak barrels, then 6 months in bottle before release.
Tasting notes
Bright red and young, the wine offers aromas of bergamot, wild violet, cherry, and morello cherry. On the palate, it’s relaxed, harmonious, and succulent with a clear and savory finish.
Food & Wine Pairing
Pairs beautifully with roasted meats, grilled game, rich pasta, and aged Tuscan cheeses—complementing savory and structured fare.
Service Methods and Temperatures
Serve at 16–17 °C in a large red wine glass. Decanting briefly may help open aromas and soften tannins.
Storage and Aging Potential
Structured for long-term aging; best enjoyed from around 2025 and can evolve elegantly through 2040.
