Winery Background and History
Allegrini is a pioneering family estate in Valpolicella Classica, Veneto, celebrated for raising the region’s profile through terroir-focused modern winemaking. Palazzo della Torre, introduced in the late 1980s, is one of Veneto’s earliest ripasso-style single-vineyard wines and remains an emblem of accessible quality and innovation.
Producer and Wine Maker
Under the guidance of Franco Allegrini and his family, the estate employs meticulous viticulture and thoughtful winemaking—hand-harvesting, partial grape drying (appassimento), and blending techniques that result in expressive, structured, yet approachable wines.
Vineyards and Micro-Climate
Grapes are sourced mainly from vineyards near Villa della Torre, including Villa Cavarena (450–520 m elevation), planted on southeast-facing slopes with clay-rich, limestone soils. These sites benefit from a continental climate with cooling altitude and excellent drainage.
Vinification & Aging Methods
About 70% of grapes are fermented in stainless steel in September; the remaining 30% undergo gentle drying and are vinified in December. These wines are blended and aged in barriques for a minimum of 15 months, followed by at least 7 months of bottle maturation before release.
Tasting notes
Deep ruby with violet glints, it offers aromas of succulent raisins, vanilla, and aromatic spices like black pepper, clove, and cinnamon. On the palate, the texture is velvety, with gentle tannins, and a long, refined finish.
Food & Wine Pairing
A versatile, food-friendly wine that pairs well with white meats, risottos, pasta, soft cheeses, and red meat dishes.
Service Methods and Temperatures
Serve at 18–20 °C in a medium-to-large red wine glass. Decanting is optional but can help enhance texture and aromas.
Storage and Aging Potential
Best enjoyed between 2024 and 2030, offering a balance of approachability and aging potential.
Grape Varietals & percentage used
A blend of 40% Corvina, 30% Corvinone, 25% Rondinella, and 5% Sangiovese.
