Winery Background and History

Allegrini is a historic family estate in Valpolicella Classica, Veneto, tracing modern winemaking roots back to the 1960s when Giovanni Allegrini transformed his ancestors’ farm into a pioneering crus-based operation. Over six generations, the estate has become synonymous with quality Amarone, combining tradition with innovation to elevate the region’s prestige beyond Italy.

Producer and Wine Maker

Now under the leadership of Franco Allegrini and his family, the winery emphasizes precision viticulture and refined winemaking. The team is known for selecting prime clusters, drying them carefully, and aging with balance—ensuring each Amarone reflects expression and restraint.

Vineyards and Micro-Climate

The grapes come from hillside vineyards in Valpolicella Classica—areas like La Grola and Palazzo della Torre—with limestone/calcareous soils, elevation, and proximity to Lake Garda. This terroir ensures optimal acidity, minerality, and elegant fruit concentration.

Vinification & Aging Methods

Grapes are harvested and dried (appassimento) for 3–4 months. Fermented with care, the wine then ages 24 months in barrique, followed by blending and refinement.

Tasting notes

Intense ruby hues lead into aromas of liquorice, dried cherries, camphor, and menthol. The palate combines compact, dense structure with balanced freshness, silken tannins, and mineral undertones—a bold yet refined Amarone.

Food & Wine Pairing

Pairs splendidly with rich, savory cuisine: aged cheeses, roasted meats, game dishes, and stews. It’s also a contemplative glass solo, thanks to its depth and complexity.

Service Methods and Temperatures

Serve in a large red wine glass at 18–20 °C. Decanting for an hour or more helps open the wine and soften its structure.

Storage and Aging Potential

Built for longevity—this vintage can gracefully evolve and remain compelling out to at least 2044.
